E&M Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Systems Engineer Sr (DSCS TA) to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO in support of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). NORAD is a United States and Canada bi-national organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning for North America. Aerospace warning includes the detection, validation, and warning of attack against North America whether by aircraft, missiles, or space vehicles, through mutual support arrangements with other command.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform the duties of an on-site Resident Technical Advisor as a member of the DSCS Site Sustaining Engineering Team. This Resident Technical Advisor position is responsible for the day in the life technical support to 4 SOPS with respect to the bus and payload. This position provides spacecraft bus/payload engineering support of current mission objectives; plans and performs seasonal satellite performance assessments to trend key data and determine operational effectiveness and longevity.
This position will be required to work some shift work and weekends in support of anomaly resolution and special test events. Availability for 24/7/365 recall to site is within 75 minutes. Overtime and travel may also be required.
Typical Duties Include:
- Provide satellite operations recommendations to the Air Force to maximize effectiveness and minimize adverse impacts on the DSCS mission.
- Provide engineering and operations technical advisor support to the Air Force crews, engineers and leadership to include on-console support of complex vehicle activities.
- Provide spacecraft engineering support to the Air Force to resolve operational problems and vehicle anomalies.
- Review and approve spacecraft bus/payload related command plans, job aids, and other crew procedures.
- Analyze satellite telemetry using site and factory tools to define and tune operational monitoring limits.
- Perform satellite telemetry trending to proactively identify any adverse trends or potential problems.
- Interface regularly with Factory operations and maintenance engineers as well as Air Force engineering counterparts.
- Provide command plan development and review, on console support during satellite commanding operations and anomaly support during on-call rotation.
- Act as contact for technical matters on contract when required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s Degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- Previous satellite operations and/or technical advisor experience.
- Excellent analytical problem solving skills.
- Must be a self-starter and able to accomplish tasks in a timely manner with limited direction.
- Must be able to work both independently as well as part of a diverse integrated team of contractors, subcontractors and Air Force personnel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Considered experienced, but still a learner.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have and be capable of maintaining a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance at the required level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
